CityNews – Loy Krathong waste has reduced to one hundred tonnes, down from last year’s.
After Loy Krathong festival ended on November 23rd, Chiang Mai administration office revealed the amount of waste which has been collected at the water gate in Pa Daet. The authorities reported that this year the waste is estimated at a hundred tonnes, reduced from last year which was reportedly 150 tonnes. While this year, the authorities have been strict about releasing the sky lantern, they also say that there are many lanterns illegally released near the Chiang Mai International Airport, totaling around 300 used lanterns collected in the vicinity.
