CityNews – Over 35,000 people attended the candle light tribute to His Majesty the King Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Royal Flora Ratchapruek Park yesterday evening, with the kings anthem being sung and other tributes made during the event.
The event began around 5pm and was hosted by the Prime Minister’s Office on November 2nd and attracted over 35,000 people to the event, with many more stuck in traffic on the way to the event too.
At 5pm jazz music composed by HM the King was being played at the Royal Pavilion by the College of Music, Payap University, along with a screen projecting images of the king partaking in royal duties.
A small speech by the Chiang Mai Governor was followed by a 90 second silence while everyone held lit candles. The King’s Anthem was then sung along with The Impossible Dream and The King of the Land. The singing was led by the College of Music’s orchestra and choirs from Prince Royal College, Dara Academy and Montfort College.
