CityNews – Residents of Chiang Mai Garden Land, Sansai have issued a complaint to the Damrongtham Center in Sansai regarding the erection of a High Voltage Pole in the village, as they are worried about the dangers it could bring to people in the area.
On July 11, over ten locals, all who live very close to the new electricity pole visited the Damrongtham Centre in Sansai to compain about the pole.
The pole is part of an electricity network development programme connecting a 115 KV (kilovolt) network from PEA High Voltage Station Chiang Mai 2 to the PEA High Voltage Station Mae Tang via a 230 KV electricity network.
Following the rules, the pole should be no closer than 12 metres from any residential buildings, but villagers claim it is much closer to thier houses, causing lightning risks and other heath concerns due to the high voltage of the lines and pole.
Sarawut Wuttipong, Police Sergeant of 3rd Development Battalion, Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand Officer, told the locals the minimal affects that can come from high voltage lines to residents and said that no more high voltage poles will be erected in the village.
